Best vacation ever! I never dreamed that a fishing trip to Alaska would be like this... more than all the comforts of home, including a full kitchen, washer/dryer, satellite TV, phone and internet services; and a fishing room/mud-room for changing into and out of your waders and storing your gear, hangers for your waders and rod racks for your rigs. Rube's knowledge of the area is tremendous and the local fishing guides are his friends... and an ocean full of fish is down the street with a river full of fish nearby.

Rube and Mary are the greatest hosts! One trip for me and I have life-long friends. They are warm and personable, and truly care about making your trip memorable. Sitting in the airport on the way back, all I can think of is how I wish my trip wasn't over and how soon I can get back.

After catching our limit of coho salmon, my friends and I made our way home, tired but happy, to  cook something special for dinner. When we arrived back to the Situk Inn, Rube informed us of an inexpensive place to have our fish processed and packaged, saving us hours of work.

No sooner had Rube finished giving us this great recommendation to have more fun time, Mary walks in with some freshly-baked pie and a salmon egg & cream cheese appetizer.

Way to go Rube and Mary, you have a way of making everyone feel like family.

The Situk Inn is definitely designed with fishermen in mind. The separate dry room to remove your waders, shoes and hang wet fishing gear and coats is super handy. The nice vans that Rube & Mary have available for rent are in great shape plus the personal touch of picking you up at the airport and then returning you there upon departure with all your fish is much appreciated.

Rube is the consummate fisherman himself. He recommends places in and around Yakutat that the general public doesn’t know exist. When he shares his intimate knowledge of the geography around Yakutat, you feel forever enriched.

When staying at the Inn, both Rube and Mary treat you like family. When their schedule allows, they will come visit to ask how everything is working out for you and how you are enjoying your Alaskan adventure. You won’t want them to leave !

Rube & Mary’s lodges are very suitable for couples as well because of the comfortable living arrangements. Their high-speed internet service allows you to keep in touch with the outside world. In fact, I used Facetime to keep personal contact with my wife. Great time!

This was the most comfortable vacation accommodation I have ever had!! The hosts, Rube and Mary are real people; enthusiastic, very amicable and really care that you have a successful and memorable trip. I am already tying flies, and anxiously looking forward to seeing them next year.

I loved the fact that these lodges are actually like individual residences but made especially for fishermen- a spacious “mud room” for getting dressed/ undressed, to remove and hang wet boots, waders, jackets. A large, open, well-equipped kitchen with a well-lit dining area is important because we love to eat, and eat very well! I especially appreciated the comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms with abundant hot water for our showers.

Proprietors Rube and Mary Evens were so very helpful in booking extra guided trips and local excursions.
